Length of an adjustable bed mattress is 6'6" (198cm) long, We add approx. 2" (5cm) to avoid the mattress interfering with the face of the headboard. If you are particularly tall and need a longer bed we make up to a 6'10" (208cm) adjustable bed. If you are restricted on space we can make 6'3" (190cm).
Height The standard height of our adjustable beds is 22" (59cm) from the floor to the top of the mattress. We can make the height either 2" higher or lower at no additional cost; 20" (51cm) from the floor to the top of the mattress or, 24" (61cm) from the floor to the top of the mattress.
Please note* Selecting our optional Braked Castors will add 3/4" (2cm) to the height.
Headboard Option
Development with interior designers to produce a truly stunning headboard. The piped edge defines the borders to produce the neat lines.
How it works.
- Handmade to very high quality by true craftsrnen in our workshops in West Sussex.
- Uphelstered in your choice of material and colour
- As standard, the headboard stands 48" (22cm) from the floor to the top and is made 1 1/2(38mm) wider on each side than the width of your bed choice.
- When supplied for adjustable beds, the headboard sitson the back panels of the base, (Seeinset diagram).

Storage drawers and storage space under Twin adjustable beds.
Our storage drawers are handmade, high quality and very strong. There is no point buying a high quality bed to last years with cheap drawers which the bottom will fall out of if overloaded.
How it works.
- We offer drawers set in the foot end or on each side towards the foot end.
- Easy open and close drawers with steel runners and guide wheels.
- A neat finger pull along the bottom edge rather than knobs or handles.
- Designed to be very easy for self-assembly. Both the drawer and carcass are already assembled.
- We do not supply drawers at the head end as these interfere with the mechanics of the adjustable bed. However, raising the headend will open up a useful storage space.
Memory 500 Mattress
The combination of the memory foam top layer combined with the supportive properties of the Reflex Foam® base layer make the ‘Memory 500’ a very comfortable mattress at an affordable price.

Massage / Optional
5 Motor Massage System. This fantastic massage system is far from being a gimmick. Powerful built in motors can give a gentle soothing massage or simply increase the intensity for an invigorating massage, passively exercising you whilst circulating blood to the joints and muscles. Relax in the knowledge that the timer will automatically switch off after a set time.
Note
The built in massage system cannot be used in combination with our pocket spring mattress. The alternative massage system which can be used is bolted under the adjustable bed slats. This system is widely sold in high street shops because it is easier to sell as an add on however it is far less effective and is noisy in comparison to the built in massage system.
Transfer-Edges / Optional
To assist in getting in and out of bed, the option of more supportive firmer Transfer-edges is available to add to your mattress. This can be found under the ‘Extras’ category.
Your mattress is designed to flex and mould to your body shape to give you optimum support, however for anyone suffering with mobility problems, the additional pressure when sitting on the side of the mattress will causes the sides to compress, increasing the risk of sliding. Adding the Transfer-edge will give increased stability to the side of your mattress reducing the risk of mattress compression whilst not reducing the all-round support of your mattress.
Standard
5-part adjustable bed mechanism
Recent legislation means that if someone is being cared for by a professional health care worker then the adjustable bed must also be height adjustable. This is necessary to reduce back injury to professional carers but does add a substantial amount to the price. If price is not the main priority this is a great option in order to have a beautifully made home style bed from our range of colours and styles available as opposed to nursing care beds which are specifically designed to be fully profiling and height adjustable.

Heavy Duty Mechanism
The functionality of the ‘heavy duty mechanism’ is exactly the same as our standard adjustable bed mechanism. Raising the back section will first bring the neck or pillow section up to a nice natural position. Once the neck section has lifted, the back section will automatically follow until you take your finger off the button. The centre section is static. When sitting up in bed more weight is directed vertically down and so this section is fitted with adjustable tensioners to make the slats firmer or softer as desired. The foot end is two sections, the upper and lower leg and is raised by lifting from the knee. The action of the foot end is that as the legs raise the feet are brought up at 10° below the knee.

Side Retainers
Unlike an ordinary divan style bed, when there is no one on the mattress, adjusting the head and foot ends will mean there are only two small areas of contact between the mattress and the slatted base. This means that the slightest pressure or nudge when getting into bed will cause the mattress to slide. Although the mattress retaining clips are a not a necessity, they will save a lot of frustration repositioning the mattress.
Made from tough nylon they are strong enough to hold the mattress in position yet flexible enough not to cause injury if you sit on the mattress above the bars. The bars sit below the level of the top of the mattress. Sheets can easily be fitted around or on the inside of the bars.
The mattress holders are simply fixed to the inside plywood frame of the adjustable mechanism. Simply screw through the pre drilled holes. You can follow our easy installation guide.

Castors
The option of castors is only available when selecting options for your adjustable bed. For an additional £20 per bed you can upgrade to our strong twin castors with brakes which makes it easy to move your adjustable bed. Simply flick the small brake lever up to unlock, reposition and push the brake down to lock it.
Our castors have a load capacity of 50kg each in comparison to general quality castors having a rating of 30kg. A 10mm thread into a steel insert threaded into hardwood corner posts for strength.
Our adjustable beds come as standard with wooden feet with a felt pad to protect the floor. Adjustable beds are not particularly heavy and can be moved relatively easily however if you need to move the beds regularly and will find it difficult it may be a good idea to pay a little more to upgrade to have castors.
